Obsessionistas – Collectors & Their Collections

This website is great, in particular the minatures collection.

Obsessionistas – MINIATURES #0088

One of my dream projects would be to decorate and furnish a wooden dolls house (in 1960s & 1970s style of course).

Linda Gavin’s minatures collection is a real inspiration.

Fabulous Vintage In Situ – North Sydney

A few weeks ago at the North Sydney markets I met a really lovely lady, Pauletta,  who lives on my street.  Pauletta bought some cushions for her son as a Christmas present and popped in to have a look at my fabrics. She mentioned a love of lime green and yellow and it just so happened I had a large mint condition piece of a gorgeous abstract floral fabric in those exact colours.

This fabric is from the 1970s although there is nothing printed in the selvage so I’m unsure who the designer is. It has a very Scandinavian retro look about it so it could be from Finland or Sweden.

Gorgeous!

The cushions and lampshade look fabulous against the bright green feature wall in Pauletta’s apartment.

Fabulous Vintage

Brighten up your child’s bedroom with Fabulous Vintage

My 3-year old son Oscar loves colour. His bedroom is a lovely shade of green and very bright and calming too. I wanted to make the room colourful yet not over do it with the retro look. On his bed is a striped duvet cover and 3 gorgeous vintage fabric cushions. Above the bed is some splendid yellow and green bunting also made from vintage fabric of course.

The fabric for  the wall art pictured below was originally a pair of cafe curtains. I do have more of this superb  fabric so do send me a message if you are interested in wall art or cushions made from it.

To finish it off a gorgeous lampshade. The metal lampbase was a cheap and cheerful Ikea purchase.

Oscar tells me he loves his colourful bedroom!

If you would like a free fabric consultation for your child’s room (or for yours!)  please contact me.

Thanks

Bridget

Jessie Tait

I love Jessie Tait designed ceramics, particularly the J & G Meakin and Midwinter coffee and tea sets that were so popular in the 1960s and 1970s. I have a collection of coffee pots, my favourites being Midwinter Fine Shape ‘Country Garden’ and ‘Spanish Garden’ both designs by Jessie Tait.

Another favourite is ‘Poppy’ by J & G Meakin, I am unsure who the designer is.

‘Floppy Poppy’ Sanderson Fabrics (1967)

What better way to start my blog by introducing my all time favourite fabric ‘Floppy Poppy’.

‘Floppy Poppy’ is an iconic Art Nouveau inspired print designed in 1967 for Sanderson Fabrics by Diana and Derek Collard. lt’s a vibrant pink, red, gold and green psychedelic furnishing fabric and was part of an attempt to attract the growing youth market at the time.  ‘Floppy Poppy’ provided the inspiration for Fabulous Vintage and my logo. I have found this fabric 5 times in the last 10 years and I am always on the hunt for more. To buy cushions visit my online shop.
