I’m so excited to introduce the first in a selection of vintage retro fabrics for children.
My favourite so far is Sanderson’s ‘Puss Puss’ from the 1960s. It’s a wonderful cotton print fabric featuring cute stylised cats and mice in peachy orange and yellow with sprigs of flowers on an off white background. Perfect for quilting or as a feature matching cushion and lampshade set in a little girl’s bedroom. Click here or on the image to buy in my shop.
Another gorgeous Sanderson fabric is ‘Spot and Friends’. I was thrilled when I found this large piece in a pink, yellow and green colourway and in pristine condition. It also came in a blue, pink & purple colurway which I would dearly love to find. Such a gorgeous pattern featuring cute cats, mice, rabbits and butterflies amidst pretty flowers and of course ‘Spot’ the dog is there too. Click here or on the image to buy in my shop.
Isn’t this piece below lovely too? Is was quite expensive, more than I usually spend but I couldn’t resist. My guess is that it’s from the USA but I can’t be sure as it’s a smallish piece with only ‘House & Home’ in the selvedge. Again, wonderful for quilting or for a little girl’s bedroom. My 3-year old son Oscar loves colour. His bedroom is a lovely shade of green and very bright and calming too. I wanted to make the room colourful yet not over do it with the retro look. On his bed is a striped duvet cover and 3 gorgeous vintage fabric cushions. Above the bed is some splendid yellow and green bunting also made from vintage fabric of course.
The fabric for the wall art pictured below was originally a pair of cafe curtains. I do have more of this superb fabric so do send me a message if you are interested in wall art or cushions made from it.
To finish it off a gorgeous lampshade. The metal lampbase was a cheap and cheerful Ikea purchase.
Oscar tells me he loves his colourful bedroom!
